Dasmesh Girls College, Chak Allah Baksh, Mukerian, under the successful guidance of Principal Dr. Karmajit Kaur, organized a special academic and literary program to commemorate International Mother Language Day. The program’s objective was to highlight the importance of mother tongue and discuss social concerns through literature. The program was ably moderated by Satinder Kaur, a student of the Punjabi Department. At the end of the program, Dr. Sonia Devi felicitated the resource speakers. Keynote speaker Dr. Dharampal Sahil shared his creative experiences, highlighting the social, geographical, and cultural background of the Kandi region. He discussed in detail his literary journey from “short story to novel” and presented an analytical analysis of his acclaimed novel “Khora.” On this occasion, Dr. Maninderjit Kaur presented a psychological study of “Khora,” highlighting the novelist’s creative individuality and a sensitive portrayal of the social status of women. Dr. Reena Kumari highlighted the importance of nature depictions in the works of Dr. Dharampal Sahil. At the conclusion of the program, Dr. Karamjit honored the chief guest, Dr. Dharampal Sahil, by presenting him with a memento. The program strengthened students’ awareness of their mother tongue, literature, and social consciousness. Present on the occasion were Dr. Sonia Devi, Dr. Maninderjit Kaur, Dr. Sukhwinder Kaur, Heads of the Punjabi Department, Dr. Reena Kumari, Assistant Professor Rupali, Assistant Professor Supriya Jyoti Nariyal, Ms. Simran, Ms. Manpreet Kaur, and students from the Hindi Department. Shri Guru Gobind Singh Educational Charitable Trust Chairman Mr. Ravinder Singh Chakk and group committee members encouraged the program organizers to continue organizing literary programs and encouraged students to stay involved in such programs.

The Resource Person for the session was Ms. Shweta, an ELICOS teacher from Excelsia University College, Sydney, Australia. She highlighted the importance of communication skills, teamwork, leadership, time management, and professional etiquette in building a successful career.

English Literary Society under the auspices of the Department of English conducted an enlightening lecture on “Common Errors in English Language” at Arya Girls School, Mukerian. It was undertaken by the Department of English for actively serving the community and making a meaningful contribution to society.
