Extra Curricular Activities

Session 2023-24

  • The Department of Political Science with the collaboration of SWEEP celebrates National Voters Day on 25 Jan 2024. Mr. Ashok Kumar (SDM, Mukerian) is Chief Guest of the day. He enlightened students about the importance of Vote in our life. It is necessary for all to give their vote to maintain democracy. Students Sneha (B.com), Aarti Rana (M.A. Political Science), Palvi Manhas (M.A.Political Science), Janvi (BABED ll) share their views on Importance and Obstacles in the way of Voting. Students have given awareness about the voting through Slogan Writing. 80 students have participated in this activity. Principal Dr. Karamjit Kaur thanks the Chief Guest to spare his valuable time. Dr. Meetu, HOD, Department of Political Science, Dr. Sukhwinder, Co-ordinator of ELC (SWEEP) successfully organized the event.
  • Department of Political Science organized an Extension Lecture on the Topic ‘Human Rights: In Indian Perspectives’ on dated 6 September, 2023 at 11:00 am. Mr. Sanjiv Kumar (President, NGO A4C) (Resource Person) shared his valuable thoughts on human rights, law and order in India. Under the guidance of Dr. Meetu (HOD, Deptt. of Political Science), the lecture was successfully organized.
  • Department of Political Science celebrated Teacher’s Day on 5 September 2023.

 

Session 2022-23

  • Department of Political Science and NCC Unit of Dasmesh Girls College organized an Extension Lecture on the Topic ‘Constitution: The Book of Rules’ to Celebrate Constitution Day and NCC Day on 25 December 2022 at 10:00 am. Resource Person, Advocate Nitika Suri, District & Session Court, Hoshiarpur enlightened the students about the Constitution rules, laws, different articles and amendments. The NCC students take the Oath to obey the rules of Indian Constitution. 80 students participated in this lecture.

Session 2021-22

  • Department of Political Science organized an Extension Lecture on the Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar with the collaboration of Deptt. Of History on 19 April 2022. Mrs. Rajni Devi, Deptt. of Political Science was the Resource Person. She explained the life and teachings of Baba Sahib Ambedkar with the students. 80 students participated in this activity.
  • Department of Political Science with the collaboration of SWEEP organized Oath Taking Ceremony on National Voters Dayon 25 January, 2022. 25 Students of PG classes participated in this activity.
  • Department celebrated International Human Rights Dayon 10 December 2021. Students of different streams have shared their views about human rights and its violation in present day life. 70 students have participated in this activity.
  • Students of Department of Political Science took part in mass reading of Preamble of the Constitution of India along with the Honorable President Ramnath Kovind of India through live streaming of the function on Sansad TV on 26 Nov. 2021 to celebrate 72nd constitution Day. 150 Students participating in this activity.

Session 2020-21

  • An Online Essay Writing Competitionorganized to celebrate World Human Rights Day dated on 10 December, 2020. Priya (MA II) got Ist Position, Deepti BABed (Sem I) 2nd Position and Anmoldeep Kaur BABed (Sem III) 3rd Position respectively.

Session 2019-20

  • Moot Courtwas organized on 27 February, 2020 on Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to celebrate 70th Constitutional Day. UG and PG Students of the department took part in this. A great deal of arguments for and against made the discussion lively. The proceeding of the Court ended with a positive note that CAA is necessary for the economic and political development of the country.

Session 2018-19

  • The Department of Political Science organized an Extension Lecture on “Human Rights: In Indian Perspective”dated on 15 February, 2019. Mr. Sanjeev Sharma, President, NGO A4C was the Resource Person.  He explained the human rights of individuals and defined equality, liberty and fraternity that are essential for the protection of rights.

 Session 2017-18

  • Department of Political Science organized an extension lecture on Legal Awareness on 16 November 2017 under the District Legal Services Authority, Hoshiarpur. Advocate J.S. Parvana and Paralegal Volunteer Harminder Singh Bagga were the Resource Persons.

Session 2016-17

  • The Department organized Mehndi Competitiondated on 10 March, 2017 with the collaboration of CT Group of Institutes.
  • The Department of Political Science organized One Day National Seminar on Strengthening Democracy and Good Governance in Indiaon February 20, 2016 sponsored by ICSSR, North Western Regional Centre, Chandigarh. The Resource Persons were Dr. Jagroop Singh Sekhon, Head,Department of Political Science, GNDU, Amritsar, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Deptt. of School of Social Sciences, GNDU, Amritsar, Dr. Emanual Nahar, Professor, USOL, PU, Chandigarh.
