Kargil Vijay Diwas Celebration at Dasmesh Girls College

Date: 26th July 2025

Under the guidance of My Bharat Hoshiarpur and in collaboration with Shiva Shivay Society Talwara, Dasmesh Girls College proudly organized a commemorative event to mark Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26th July 2025. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 100 students, including NSS volunteers who actively took part in speech and poem recitation competitions dedicated to the bravery of Indian soldiers.
The college had the honour of welcoming S. Satpal Singh, a Kargil war veteran, as the chief guest. He inspired the students by sharing his first-hand experiences from the battlefield, instilling patriotism and respect for the armed forces.
As part of the event’s green initiative, 11 saplings were planted to symbolize peace and remembrance.
Mr. Gagan Rana and Mr. Rohit Kashyap from Shiva Shivay Society, Principal Dr. Karamjeet Kaur, and NSS Program Officer Ms. Shikha Sharma also addressed the students, spreading awareness about the significance of the Kargil War and paying tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
 
 

NSS Unit of Dasmesh Girls College Organizes Poster Making Competition under Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan

The NSS Unit of Dasmesh Girls College organized a Poster Making Competition on 21st July 2025 under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan. The event aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug addiction and to encourage youth to take a stand for a drug-free India.
 
NSS volunteers participated enthusiastically and conveyed strong anti-drug messages through their creative and impactful posters. In addition to the competition, the volunteers also recorded video messages promoting the message of a drug-free life, which were shared on various social media platforms to reach a wider audience and inspire collective action among the youth.
 
The Principal and faculty members appreciated the efforts of the NSS unit and encouraged students to continue contributing to social awareness campaigns with the same spirit and dedication.

I, Shikha Sharma, NSS Program Officer at Dasmesh Girls College, am pleased to submit a report on my participation in the three-day training program on “Women Leadership and Disaster Risk Reduction” held from 1st July to 3rd July 2025 at the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Punjab.
 
Objective of the Training:
 
The training was aimed at empowering women leaders with the knowledge, skills, and tools to effectively participate in and lead disaster risk reduction (DRR) initiatives. It also focused on building leadership capacities among women involved in community services and promoting gender-inclusive disaster preparedness and response.
